    The ISEP Certificate in Environmental Management qualification is designed to develop your understanding of environmental issues in the workplace. It provides learners with the knowledge, tools and skills to implement effective environmental management systems to reduce their environmental impact.

    The ISEP Certificate in Environmental Management is a level 5 vocational qualification on the UK Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) and Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
    There are 3 modules which are covered:

    Fundamentals of sustainability, business and governance.
    • Explain the implications of global trends for the environment, for society, for the economy and for organisations and the role as an Environment/Sustainability practitioner in overcoming these challenges.
    • Explain sustainable business/governance models, their underlying principles and their relationship with organisations, products and services.

    Environmental principles, policy and legislation.
    • Explain environmental principles and their relationship with organisations, products and services.
    • Explain significant policy and legislation and their implications for organisations, products and services.
    Environmental management, assessment tools and skills.
    • Explain significant and relevant tools, techniques, systems and practices, their application and how they can be used to develop sustainable products and services and improve sustainability performance.
    • Explain the role of innovation and other leading practices in developing sustainable products and services and providing sustainable solutions.
    • Collect and critically analyse data, and report information that informs decision making.
    • Identify problems and assess opportunities that deliver innovative and sustainable products and services.

    This course is aimed at Managers who are interested in developing their environmental and/or sustainability knowledge. This course is applicable for Managers wishing to upgrade their ISEP membership to Practitioner Level (PIEMA) and Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP).

    It is required to have a foundation level of environmental and/or sustainability knowledge. It is recommended to have taken the ISEP Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management or similar course, or to have gained equivalent knowledge and skills via work experience.

    Please note: ISEP was formerly IEMA – the accrediting body name changed in July 2025; content and standards are unchanged.
